The 14th Meeting of the JWST Advisory Committee (JSTAC)

The JSTAC met at STScI on Nov 29-30 2016.  The committee heard updates on the status, schedule, and budget of the JWST program from NASA HQ and GSFC.  JWST community science support will formally begin in 2017, and STScI presented updates on a full range of user support issues including on community engagement and education; documentation; proposal planning software and tools; pipeline software and data products; and analysis software.  The JSTAC Data Processing Working Group provided a summary of their observations and recommendations.  Discussion was dedicated to the Director's Discretionary Early Release Science (DD ERS) program, which will release a Call for Proposals in January 2017.  The JSTAC provided three letters with recommendations on the DD ERS program, laboratory astrophysics, and certification of Operations Scripts System (OSS) software.
